Riding the 156

In my opinion, the 156 is by far the most scenic route operated by Stagecoach in Lincolnshire. It consists of one journey each way between Caistor and Louth on Wednesdays and Fridays. A few pictures taken on the 1400 departure from Louth today - some from the unusual perspective of the rear window!

Looking through the rear window as the bus climbs the steep gradients at Kirmond-le-Mire - I remember well doing this on the ex-Scottish Alexander-bodied Leopards in the Road Car era on the service 25 (Louth - Grimsby via Binbrook) and they fared rather better up this hill than did the more modern 21018 today!
On leaving Brookenby (formerly RAF Binbrook) there's another steep climb. Last time I did this route some years ago was on an ECW-bodied Leyland Olympian which struggled with the gradient to say the least!
